The snow is melting fairly fast with the warm weather which for crappie fishing is a good thing. The lake is wet and sloppy but travel is getting easier. The banks are getting low and the rough ice is getting much easier to find. With all that is happening out there the crappies are starting to bite better. Warm temps make it easy to fish out side and move around. ATVs and snowmobiles get around great and most places you can still go with a 4×4 truck. Our road is still fairly dry in the middle and travel out to 5 miles is good. The crappies and are still being caught around 4 to 4.5 miles out and in the rough, broken ice. Drilling some holes and moving around is still the best way to find them. Glow red demons and glow green demons work well for me. We will keep you posted on the ice conditions and update when things change. Good luck.
The snowmobile trails look pretty worn down in most places but we had a very good base to start with so if we get a little more snow they will be back in good shape. As for now trail riding is very tough on the machines but could be done if need be.

The snow mostly melted on the lake and now we have some back. 3 inches or so of fresh snow now cover most of the lake. Lake travel is very good right now on ATV or snowmobile. You can pretty much go any where you want without much trouble. The marked roads are gone but you can still see slight road banks. We snowmobiled out to the center bar yesterday and it was very easy going. ATV travel is great too just not as fast as a sled. Cold temps have hardened the shore line up some so water is not really an issue. As far as the crappie bite goes, we need some fisherman out on the lake to find them. Last weekend was good for me and my cousins. We ended up with a nice meal of crappies and released several walleyes. The best area we found was 4-4.5 miles out near the end of our ice road. We fished most of the day and had our best luck in the afternoon around 4 pm. We used glow red demons and drilled several holes to find them. Right now and the weeks to come are going to be prime time for the crappies and I hope you are here to enjoy some good fishing. We have cabins still available so call and reserve yours soon. Good luck!!
