    Greetings fishermen!
Still a few rental fish houses available for this weekend, only17 more days and the walleye /northern fishing will be over for this winter. That is hard to believe! The bite for the walleye has still been spotty, with the northern action continuing to be fairly good and an occasional crappie.
The walleyes are still very spooking, jigging even spooks them. A plain hook or a colored glow hook has worked for many. Fishing deep 4-6 inches off the bottom, with at least one line still fishing.
Our road is in good shape. Jerry has made many pull off spots for people to get off the main road. SOooo for now we should be good to go, and it is “suppose” to be a nice warm weekend. Have a safe trip!

Over the weekend the walleye bite was spotty at best, with catching going on here and there… no particular rhyme or reason to it. Some of our fishermen actually did quite well, with the rest picking up just a few. Before closing the lodge last night I did here several much better reports from the fishermen leaving the lake that were fishing out near the center bar, I even ended up with a couple in my bucket!
The northern pike action has been very good with many fish over 40 inches caught and released.
The crappie fishing is picking up a little with quite a few fishermen catching one or more 14 inch plus slabs. Even though the numbers are way down Upper Red lake is still the place to come if you are looking for a crappie to hang on the wall.
The fish are out there it is just a matter of moving around and doing what you need to do to get on them.

Things are beginning to freeze back up very nicely after our recent melt down; the main road is high and dry all the way out to the center bar and beyond.
The walleye bite has picked up some during the day and even more so at night, I have seen many limits of walleyes caught out near the center bar again this week, the bite there should last for a while at least until the big crowds show up this weekend. The crappie bite this past week was almost nonexistent, I personally do not think we will find more than just a couple of crappies here and there, still Upper Red Lake is the place to find that slab crappie to hang on the wall.
