We are slowly working our way out of
another -20 below cold snap. Sounds
like plus 30 by Fri-Sat so that will
feel good. While the walleye bite is
still spotty it seems to be picking up
a little. We have had some rentals
getting limits of “keepers” while the
next house is slower. There still does
not seem to be a certain depth that is
much more consistent with fish coming
at 8′ to 14′. The pike continue to be
active but just the rare crappie being
caught right now. Just 2-1/2 weeks to
    chase walleye-pike this winter!

It’s raining outside this morning after
a pretty nice weekend of weather. We are
to have drizzle followed by snow the next
couple days so expect slippery roads for
a few days. The walleye bite picked up
as just about all of our rentals hit good
action (along with many private shacks) on
Friday into Saturday then it slowed some.
Quite a few nice pike reported and a few
crappies here and there. While most depths
were catching fish the 10-12′ range seemed
to be producing a little better than out
deeper. We are down to less than two weeks
in the winter walleye season so be sure to
get out and wet a line!!

We have had several days above freezing
(even at night) and rain most of the day
yesterday. After all that the ice and roads
were a little wet but in good shape. With
cooler temps on the way the ice roads should
be freeze dried and in real good condition
by Friday in time for weekend travel. Cleats
on your boots will be a good idea around the
houses this weekend! If you haven’t checked
on your house lately hopefully you left it
blocked up several inches or more when you
left or it could be iced in! While spotty
the walleye continue to cooperate mornings,
some mid day and especially evenings in 6 to
14′ mostly on dead sticks w/bare hook tipped
with minnow and occaisionally on the jig.
A few crappie showing up and quite a bit of
pike action in all depths. See you on the
    ice this holiday weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While the average bite has been on the
slow side there have been fishermen
that have been on a good bite. There
is no depth that seems to be much better
than the next with fish coming from 6
to 14+ feet. They have been hard to set
the hook on at times with a finicky type
bite. Bare hook & minnow and some smaller
glow type hooks still working best. This
is the FINAL WEEKEND for walleye & pike
as season closes Sunday midnight. I expect
to see a lot of houses leaving the lake
this weekend as people give it their last
shot for the winter hard water season.

The walleye and pike season came to a
close at midnight last night after the
    weather cooperated nicely with plenty
of sunshine and fairly light winds on
Saturday & Sunday. The walleye bite
remained spotty with some hitting good
    action while others struggled through
with slow fishing. A BIG THANK YOU to
all of our customers for another safe
and fun winter fishing season. We will
still be open on a more limited basis
for those wanting to try for crappie
as long as conditions do not make for
tough going. I encourage those with
fish houses still on the lake to take
them off shortly as we begin to remove
most of the houses this week! We will
continue to give updated reports here
    as to fishing and conditions!!
