I spent Labor Day weekend on URL for a pre-marital male gathering.
We got our lines wet Saturday morning out of West Wind Resort. I put my crank into the water to ensure it was properly tuned to find water that resembled a Starbucks treat. It was a rather deflating discovery. Water clarity was horrible. I would say it was less than 5inches. On Saturday we had a SW wind and I think that shoreline had been beat up most of the week.
For the morning bite, my boat landed a 23” pike and a 17.5” walleye. Needless to say, quite slow.
The gem of the weekend came to Jered. He caught a 41” northern that was initially labeled as a snag. This guy smacked a perch patterned Taildancer.
On Sunday the wind was worse, so we focused our efforts on a lake in the Blackduck area.
Our group of 11 guys only caught two pike on Saturday. There were a couple sheephead and a handful of walleyes mixed in.
We were very pleased with the cabins at West Wind. They are new and nicely equipped.
