When does ice out on red usually happen and when does the papermouth bite start in the spring?

Never been up there before and thought it would be fun to get up there this spring berore the bass opener.

me and Judy were at Red this past weekend the access was open to atv only, there were several going out of Westwind and reporting limits coming back in-the bite was reported at 9 pm and 1-3 am about 5 miles out-the bridge was pulled (the main beams) but the side ramps were still there to cross on with atvs- the shore line wasnt to bad but there was plenty of water and slush out there to a point of dropping a gear or 2 just to keep moving in certain spots, we didnt get out as we were packing things away at the cabin but it sure gives you the itch seeing a lot of gut pails full

Judy and I want to thank all of yous for supporting our business and making it a great year

we also hope that our reports this season have kept all of you as updated as possible and you enjoyed or posts

again thanks we thank all of you and IDA Site for putting up with us and allowing us to be reporters here

We normaly see ice out around the 19th of April. Some yaers sooner some years later depending on water levels, temps and wind. As for the bite as soon as I can fit a boat around the ice chunks I’m out there for a reason.
