Where to launch boat on Upper Red Lake

    Just made motel reservations near URL for the ’07 opener and am wondering where a good spot to launch from with good parking etc. would be?

    Never fished open water on Red before either so any general spring fishing info for eyes would be greatly appreciated as well.

    There are a few good spots. Most any resort will have a “safe harbor” and decent parking for around $5 to launch. You can launch free from the DNR public access on the Tamarck River. That is just a little north of Hillmans.

    If you have any qeustions stop and buy your bait from Dr. Tackle. Those guys are great and always give you the “Big scoop”! Both on minnows and info. They are in Kehlier.

    Don’t be surprised if opener is not that busy up there. Last year it was not what I was expecting at all. Worth the trip!
