A few of us guys are headed up to red lake for some of the famous crappie slabs and a few walleyes. We will be there Feb 16 – 18th. Any one else going to be up there?
I was up there once last yr and didn’t have any luck? Any pointers? How far out? Last yr we tried 4.5-6 miles out. All i know is small jigs, small minnows and electronics. Well all have vexlars and one has a camera. Look forward to hearing from you guys.
    thanks in advance.

So just drive around and poping holes and if nothing there keep going? How long before you move? 30 minutes or so?
I have a clam 6800 and its a pain in the @$$ to move all the time.

Hope that the 10 day forecast stays partially true and hopefully you can find a few without setting up 100% and then go from there. We will be pulling a couple wheeled houses out a week after you. Our plan is to check out the bite on here, then DR’s in Kelliher, then Rogers when we pick up the shack. See if those three sources have anything in common to start with then move 1/4 mile every 20 minutes until we find the crappies and set up shop for a few days. Good luck.

I am going that weekend also, maybe we could all hook up somewhere. As for how far out,I have been there 3 times so far and the fish we found a week before were gone the following week.Last weekend we were the closest shack to shore, hard to believe but thats the only place we found more than a few crappies.Definitly bring an extension!30 minutes per spot is about right, you will find em or you wont.

Well if anyone wants to hook up and or communicate on fishing send me a pm or email and we will swap cell phone numbers. It would be kind of nice having guys all over and that way we hopefully find them. Any of you guys use the 2 way walkie talkies up there. Mine are always on main channel 3 and sub channel 33 if you have them.

Well how did you guys do? I didn’t make it up to red lake. When we stopped at our secret lake by Cass, and we got our limit of crappies(30 for 3 guys)so we didn’t even bother to drive up to red. (6pm – 9pm) Hope to hook up with you guys another time.
