    From the MN DNR:

Strong enforcement presence will continue on Upper Red Lake (2006-05-23)

Long hours of both covert and uniformed surveillance by conservation officers of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have netted a number of over-limit cases as well as slot limit violations on Upper Red Lake. DNR Enforcement Chief Mike Hamm, said a strong enforcement presence will remain on the lake throughout the fishing season to ensure rule compliance and protect the resource.

You can also dial on your cell phone #tip send.

If you read that article carefully, they mention that a bunch of the violators were pretty casual about their measurements methods. Using notches on an oar or a piece of string isn’t good enough, I guess. It’s worth springing for the real deal.

    Hey Jdec,
That is awesome that you brought that up. With some cellphone companies you can dial #tip and it will go through to the TIP line. I just wish the other cellphone companies would follow suit, Sprint

One thing I’ve hear…but never experiance…is the plastic “tape” style measure will shrink if in the heat/sun.

Not sure if it’s true…but it might not hurt to take a tape to your tape a couple times a year.

I have never had a problem while I was on the lake with cell reception during the winter.

The article does not mention, that if you have your limit of 2 in the livewell, that that is your possession limit. Isn’t IT then unlawful to continue fishing for Walleyes, even if they are all released?????? I think it is.

I have a couple in my boat. I measure them periodically and for the last 8 years they have not changed. At least not enough to matter in the real world.
