I am going to be fishing north of Grand Rapids this weekend, and I am considering running up to Red.If anyone has got a report on the ice conditions I would sure appreciate it!

I was supposed to fish Red Tomorrow and Sunday both of which I cancelled. There is about 2 ft of water on the Ice right now. With all that snow there are huge pockets of slush. The walleye bite is still good, but it is hard to find the slabs because travel is so limited.

I can only speak for last weekend, but we went out of hillmans and morts and rogers with no problems. Roads are rutted and bumpy if your pulling a wheel house…go really slow. We had to be a little more careful getting off road around hillmans…just tough to find a place to get off road with their road banks so high(and yes slush under them). But morts/rogers were easy to get off road and we went anywhere we wanted with no problems. You just have to look out for old perm. shack banks and old road banks…any where there was piles of snow…there was slush under it. It wasn’t lack of drilling holes…it was lack of finding crappies for us. Good luck…I’d check out fishing minnesota on some recent reports on red.
