Made a last minute run to Upper Red only to find the ice conditions less then favorable. This first photo will give you an idea. Knee high boots or better yet hip waders would have been nice as there was anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of water everywhere you went. How was the catching? Shortly after wetting a line we had a 13 and 14 inch crappie that kept the hopes pretty high. Then “the other” fish moved in and the crappies became non-existent. I’ll add a few pictures so you get a feel for how miserable being mobile was. Red glow jigs and emerald shiners took most of the fish. Most all of “the other” fish ran between 14 and 20 inches. I’m sure we had over 30 of “the other” fish so at least they kept us busy and entertained.

I’d like to see the fish that took a bite at this 20 inch “other fish.” The photo is poor due to the shaky photographer but you can see the bloody marks on the side are obviously from escaping being eaten.

Wow! Looks like a sloppy mess. I would have been a little worried taking the truck out in that.
