I’m heading up on the 10th of Feb. Gonna stay out on the ice for a few nights. Does anyone know how the ice depth is? This misserable warm weather has got to be taking it’s toll…even that far north.

    Deckhand,

Just got back from another weekend at red – the ice is generally about 18-20 inches – there are some thinner spots under the deeper snow – but that was disapearing. you could basically get around anywhere on the lake. The bite changed from a day bite last weekend to an evening bite that started at about 5:30 and went on sporadically throughout the rest of the evening. Stop in to westwinds before you go out and you should be able to get some good up to date info about the roads and accesses. Good Luck.

Just got back, I’m not sure how deep the ice was but it was plenty thick and the roads were in great shape out of the West Wind, and Hillmans. We had our best luck fishing rough ice as far out as possible, I don’t recall how far out of hillmans we went, 6-7 miles, maybe more?
