Crappies?

Has anyone heard or been up and done anything? I am heading uo there this weekend. With the weather we are having, I would imagine they should be going pretty good by then!

I know it’s not URL but our cabin is in Grand RApids with our lake the average temp was 58 degrees. The Crappies were biting pretty much on crappie minnows with jig heads, while slow trolling at about .7 to 1.0 mph. I don’t know if this helps but I figure I’d let you know.

The water temp is in the upper 50’s as of sunday, the 28th.
From what I understand, the spawn starts when the water temps hit 60-62 degrees and lasts a couple weeks so you should be right there by the weekend.
There was a massive fish fly hatch which has slowed the bite a little,also bring lots of minnows the Sheepshead and Walleye’s are going nut’s.
And of course have the camera ready for that monster pike.

My brother and dad went up Monday morning and came back last night.

They never been there before, loaded up the truck and boat and off they went.

They launched out of Washkish and the bait shop said to stay close to the north shore.

On Monday they caught about 7 crappies (nice ones) and about 50 walleyes in the 16 to 24 inch range. There was no wind at all and they drifted lightly with slip bobbers, flu-flus, and crappie minnows.

On yesterday morning, they caught 2 crappies and about 30 walleyes…….Same general area and same presentation.

They fished in 6 fow, about 3 feet down.

The bait shop said that some people were coming in with crappie limits, but not all……
