Assuming they open a season for walleye fishing in 2006 on Red Lake, what do you guys think the trolling bite will be like up there?? I’ve never been on this body of water, but it seems to me open water trolling is going to be the best bet to cover water and find fish. The lake has little to no structure, correct??

Any talk about opening up the native side to us whities?? Can you imagine how many eyes, pike and crappies must be in a lake that size!!!

    Just thinking ahead…

Im thinking its going too be a great way for me too learn how too use planer boards. Get a couple guys in the boat and cover some water. Should be great! And i bet those 14″ crappies will be all over those #5 shap raps also.

I can only imagine the size of the pike that a guy will tie into accidentally up there. Let’s hope they open the season. If they do, we could put together a pseudo get together up that way.

    Kooty,
I’d agree trolling would be the best way to cover water, a whole spread of flat lines and boards, but you are going to need a big boat, as you can only fish one rod per person, you’d need alot of guys and girls in the boat to get a full spread behind you. this forum will explode next year. So, what methods did you old timers used to use when fishing up there? And how would you locate fish?
