James and I just finished a television shoot in which we hopefully were able to capture the tendon snapping power of these special fish here on the Rainy River. We were fortunate enough to find ourselves toe to toe far more big fish than we could have hoped for. Jumping, Rolling and cirling our boat like toothless sharks made this experience like no other fishing. We had 1 or 2 boats around us only on rare occassions, and predominately dished out a heavy hand of “Night Crawler Smackdown” to these prehistoric “DINOS” all by our lonesome. Kudos to Mark the “Camera Stud” for all the awesome shots he was able to capture in the heat of the moment, and also for keeping his composure as 2 anglers were jumping around like school kids in that 1790 Tiller from Skeeter!!

For all of you anglers that have NOT fished for these drag screaming Subs I suggest you spool up the heavy stuff and give it a shot!! Sometimes it is worth resisting the temptations of fishing with the mass, and getting out on your own.

I hope this show finds Ido Boys everywhere gripping a cold one tight while in your fighting chair in front of the televison next season!! Gonna be some “Must See” TV!! I’m all for calling it Ultimate Fighting IDO STYLE!! As long as BK is NOT the ring girl between rounds!!

See you on the water Team!!!

You guys look as happy as kids at the candy jar!
Can’t wait to see the video…and the two exciteable anglers we know and love!

No outstretched arm photos with those big tanks!

There is NOTHING in fresh water like dancing with a sturgeon!

    The sturgeon always leads!

I don’t know if Chris can tell the individual fish apart in these pics to say fish X is this long, etc., but I know I can’t with any accuracy as we took pics of approximately 20 – 22 fish total. Our biggest / longest fish taped in the low 60’s (we had 2/3 in that same class) along with 6 – 8 in the mid to upper 50’s. For a couple first time sturgeon guys… it was a blast!

For those heading up in the coming days we found all our better fish in 5’ of water in the heaviest current in the area. Once we got deeper than 9’ everything was much smaller. I’m not sure if this is all that unusual but it seems to me that most guys typically fish deeper so I thought I would toss it out there.

Still thinking about you (James) nearly getting pulled out the back of our 1790 Skeeter. Then watching Mark nearly start his reel on fire as that beast took him for a ride before letting loose. Man overboard!!

Definately “Manland” fishing at its finest!! When your a bit nervous setting the hook for the fury of rage that may lash back against you. Almost as if those big swimming suction cups are thinking…..”I see your hookset, and will raise you one run down the rapids!!” Fun stuff!!

nice looking fish guys. I can never get over how big they are up there. I hooked a big one on the Wisconsin river when I was 13 using a zebco 202 and fought it for a long time before my gear was exposed. Netman and I will never forget that day.

I know I wish I was back up there right now.
