Looks like our third nice day in a row here on Lake of the Woods. Temps have been in the low teens the last few days after nearly a week of sub-zero temps. There is anywhere from 10″ – 14″ of out from Pine Island, The Gap, and the Morris Point areas on the East end of the lake. Traffic is still being limited to ATV and sleds, but the resorts are running smaller SUVs on the ice. Fishing out of Border View Lodge has been good this past week. Good numbers of 14-18″ walleye have been coming in w/ an occasional big fish. Saugers are of no shortage this year. However, they are running small due strong year classes the past few years. Some sorting is needed. The best fishing has been in 23-26′ of water, but the shallower depths can be great in the early morning and late evening. Word is the snowmobile trail up the Northwest Angle is being staked this weekend.
Tight Lines.
