we go up for about a week. we take it nice an easy. either anchor in the holes or drift through the bigger ones.

we use jigs tipped with shiners/rainbows for the most part. i switch to northland spoons and pimples as well. best colors for us seem to be Gold, Chartruese, and light purple.

without going back and watching james video for the 4th time i have a question.

i use 6 ft to 6 1/2 ft poles and i’ve generally used 8lb fireline then swivel and then use 8-12 lb flourocarbon as a leader then tie directly to the jig.

is this ideal? or should i be doing something different? remember there are times where we have to haul in 4-5 ft sturgeon as well.

    thanks for the help.

I would go with NO leader. That water is dirty enough not to spook any of those fish. Tie directly to the jig. I would use a hi-vis color line as well, should you decide to cast at all….In the spring and fall I have not had to go to a flourocarbon leader.

thanks…the only reason i tie a swivel is we catch about 1 or 2 of those frikking sturgeon and all the do is roll…am i just over thinking it?
