Planning to come up this weekend from the Cities to spend a couple of days on the ice.
Wondering what the latest conditions are for the Pine Island area and Long Point areas. I see that Long Point experienced a big crack this weekend so maybe we should stay away from there this weekend and wait until our next trip on the 28th. Wondering how the ice is around Pine Island, how much? Should I plan on bringing the ATV, or will they possibly driving trucks by this weekend?

In advance thanks for the update.

    Grabs,
Yep they had a huge crack over near Long Point this weekend. But they are looking at three nights in a row with -10 zero temps and highs in the single digits to low teens, so she is making ice 24/7 right now. Over Pine this last weekend, they reported numbers of smaller Samari’s, Ranger and Jeep to be on the ice. For the most part as of early this week there is a good 8-10 inches of ice and from what I have heard they will be driving those smaller light-weight rigs again this weekend. For more information give Adrians resort a call as they are one of the resorts that have a main road out over Pine Island.

    Sean,

Do you have any info on the bite up there right now?
Any good report to share with us?

    Thanks Sean!

    Deezee,
The bite has been more of an action bite over the last few days. Numbers of those pesky-saugers are keeping the rods bent for most of the day. Anglers are getting out over Pine Island into that 25 feet of water already.
The best bite for those walleyes are coming from 3-5 PM each day. They are finding most of the fish in the 15-20 feet of water.
From the reports that I’m hearing, as I have yet to make the trip North, most anglers are seeing 30-70 fish per day, with only 5-10 of these fish being walleyes yet there are those finding many more walleyes then this. No real sign of numbers of big eyes yet, but that can change by the hour now. It should be another great year up there and I will be getting my first chance up there late this month and another 6-8 trips in January.
