Fished Fri-Sat-Sun – Took sleds to north islands and reefs

    Friday

Started on Starren Shoal south of Garden. We had good size, numbers and a mix of Perch (a few) and Walleyes. There were a few Saugers on top but we didn’t move deeper until lunch time because the bite was steady. After Lunch we went to Bridges area. The deep edge of the drop produced well for size and numbers of Perch, Walleyes and Saugers. We ran back to Pine for the last 90 min of daylight and struck out.

    Saturday

Hit the same spot on Garden with mix results and bailed out at 9:30 because of the encroaching Armada. We from there to Little Oak Island. We fished two spots on the east side and kicked out some nice Smallies, and a few ‘eyes and Perch and the deep edge. At around 1:30 we headed back to Bridges to try the deep gravel and hump contours. The deep gravel was slower again Saturday and we focused on the humps again and had a great late day bite.

    Sunday

The weather dropped at least 15-20 degrees and the wind was gale force. We started on top of the Bridges hump with mixed results and dropped down to the bottom of the hump at 8:00 am and stayed on steady fish until 3:00 when we packed up and headed home.

Overall, great weather, good numbers (70-80 ‘eyes each day) and strong size (all keepers were 16-18.5″). The bonus perch (19 keepers over 3 days @ 11-14.5″) helped seal the deal. A little disappointed that the big girls were missing, but no complaints.

I’ll never fish Jan/Feb again if this is what late ice means!

Same time period for me…Fished 16 mile out of Arnesens (bablers road…). SMALL fish that we really needed to weed thru but ended up leaving with our limit of 15″-17″ eye’s. Had to move down to a minimum of 12″ on the saugers to limit on those but did get there. Concentrated on 24FOW for the most part. Also caught two 10 lb. burbot! Poor man’s lobster baby!
My buddy caught a 31″ Slime also out there and only an hour before that he had on one that must have gone 20lbs (I saw it swim by the bottomof the hole…) but it broke his line making a run. I didn’t have the heart to tell him it was that big so I told him it was a 8-10lber …RR
