Spent 4 days on my favorite winter lake last week.

We rented a cabin from Jason Taggart from Hard Water Adventures.(Long Point area) Nice cabin with plenty of room for us 5 guys.

We like the Long Point area because its more centralized if you plan on reef fishing in any direction.

We ended up fishing the reef just south of Garden Island for the most part.

We all had good fishing using different jigs and varying depths on and around the reef.(its a very large reef)

The last day we went on a perch and sauger hunt out in deep water.

Not many perch but the walleye sauger action wasnt bad.

Big walleye was 28 inches with a few 19 – 20 inchers and 24 incher caught.

    Also a 36 inch pike.

    A few pictures:

Are those B3 blade baits in some of those photos? I’ve been hearing from a few guys that they’ve been working well this winter but I haven’t tried them yet. Thanks for the report!

    Yes they are.

I had a very productive day using this one.

    Just the one day though.

It was a warm calm day where the fish were hitting aggressively.

Given the thump they put off I would imagine that would definitely NOT be the ticket on a day when the fish are lethargic. Thanks for the reply back. I’ll have to stash a small selection in my ice tackle bag so I have them handy when I’m out on the ice. They’re in my river bags now.

My coworker was up there last weekend for 3 days. They were having 100 fish days. Not much size, but lots of small fish with enough 14 – 18 for meals each day. He had a blast.
