Anyone ever stay at Zippel Bay resort on LOTW? we reserved a 3 day trip in a sleeper shack in mid-January, hoping to get into some big walleyes and northerns.

I’ve stayed there a couple times. Never done a sleeper, as I’ve never really seen much of a night bite there in the winter. They have nice little cabins and good access to the lake.

I have been doing LOTW for 14 years. I have stayed at Zipple bay,Morris Point& Addrians. I now try to stay at Addrians all the time. I make 3 trips a year.Early Dec.,early Jan., and late Jan. I never have had much of a bite after dark.

yep……..I’m waiting for someone to give those walleyes some “schooling” to teach them that they are to bite at night…..

They sure are strange that they shut down and sun down…….

    Wadsworth,
I’ve never stayed at Zippel Bay, but I’ve also never heard too many bad things about their operation, either. I fish LOTW extensively in the winter and occasionally in the summer. You should have no problem finding walleyes when you’re going. For northerns, Zippel is a good bay, as is 4-mile bay. We always fish ‘eyes in the morning, then shoot in to 4-mile and set up tip-ups for pike, then back out to the lake for ‘eyes again. The pike we get are unbelievable. Our shortest pike so far is 27 inches. Every one of them is thick, too. Be sure to let the people at the resort know what you’re after and they should help you find it. I agree with the other guys, too, in the fact that there really is no night bite to speak of. You’re more likely to catch eelpout than anything else. Good luck and let us know how you do.
