I will be heading up to lake of the woods for the first time next week and was just wondering what lures and tackle are needed for a successful trip. Thank you for any help.

In a word…Gold! Its no secret in the world of LOW ice fishing that Gold is by far the #1 color. Heck…Last March I never changed from the Gold jigging spoon I used and caught over 100 fish over 3 days of jigging. I even use Gold on my set line. You can’t (and won’t…) be wrong having this color in your arsenal ! RR

Yea you cant go wrong with anything gold on LOW.Pink, red and orange are also good colors.I use mostly spoons for jiging.Buckshots, sweedish pimples etc.they all work well.Seems like the hot new lure for this year is called the stop sign from JRs tackle. You can buy them up there. Some guys have good luck with chubby darters and jiging rapalas to.Plain hook or a jig on a dead stick works well.I heard recently that shiners are already in short supply up there so you might want to look for some before you get there or try some gulp.Ill be headed up there in a couple weeks and have a few other trips planed as well.

I also prefer the buckshot rattle spoons in Gold, Red, and any combination of the two. As for the “Stop” sign lure, Capra’s usually has a good supply. I have done well with them as well.
