We made one last run to the Rainy on Sun.. Left at 1:00am from Cold Spring.
Didn’t see many deer until we started heading north out of Motely, then they where everywhere standing on the road shoulders all the way to the Vidas landing. Just before Waskish, we saw a red fox. About 5 miles down the road, we saw a wolf. Another 5 miles down the road we saw a lynx. To us, these siteings where a ohman that the fishing was going to be good.
Arrived at Vidas landing at 5:00am. and amazed that no deer where hit. We targeted our best 5 fishing spots (only had 11 hrs. to fish and 10 hrs of drive time) with only 2 of them producing for us and boy did they produce.
At 6:15am our first fish was in the boat, a small 17″ male emptying his milky holdings in my boat. A lot of the males did this to us during the day. This did not happen to us last week-end.
What we found was that where the males were, the big girls were. These fish were located in the troughs or saw tooths(11′ tops down to 16′ bottoms back up to 11′). We would cast at a 45 to 90 degree angle from the boat and pull the ring worms parrallel to the troughs at the bottoms.
Color of worms didn’t seem to make to much differance as long as it had a chart. tail. A 3/16 to 1/4 oz. silver glitter jighead worked best. Bladebaits worked best mid to lat day.
What a awesome day and fishery. No wind, warm sun and not a lot of boats.
The two of us ended up with 95 fish. 8 of these fish where over 28.5″. Beautifull looking females
Enough talk. I could go on and on and on. Here are the pics.
