James Holst and I were up on Rainy the last 3 days and had some fantastic fishing. Water clairty remains very good at a little over 2 foot, water levels appear to be steady yet and very fishable currents.
The Frontier and Birchdale ramps are plowed out and in great shape. We spent our last 3 days pitchign plastics down between Frontier and Clementson. THe midday midriver flat fishing was fantastic with lots of fish including plenty of 25″-29″ to go around!
Its been 10 years since I was up on the Rainy and quickly reminded myself of why I stopped making it a every year trip.
5/16th oz BFT Chart/Orange Precision jigheads on Chart/Pepper and Chart/Orange core ringworms overwhelmingly took the bulk if not all of our fish over the 3 days. We opted to pitch plastics the entire trips with no minnows aboard and had an absolute blast doing.
I am sitting here extremely envious of anyone heading up there this week. You are instore for osme great fishing! Good luck
