Just thought I’d mention we slipped a little river boat into the Rainy River yesterday up here by the Falls. Landing was cleared out with just a little bump of ice at the end. Slipped our little river boat over the ice and into the cool water. Would love to report that we got into them, but that was not the case. Fishing still is fishing! Last year we got into some nice eyes very early like this, but apparently need a little warm up to get them snapping. Nice thing about up here is that the River is wide open, and even though the migrating fish aren’t here yet we are able to open water fish for many of the native walleyes. Look for this action to pick up as our weather heats up. Soon we all hope! Another note is that this is the clearest I have ever seen the water here on the river. Water clarity was amazing!
