Just got back from Arneson’s yesterday after two days of decent fishing. Not really hot & heavy, but had a blast as always. Group of six out of two shacks caught probably 20-30 fish a day per shack in 24′ of water west of Arneson’s. Probably about half of the fish qualified for “bucket” fish, but we just kept enough for a fish fry, and a few to take home apiece. Evenly split between saugers & walleye, with only one slot fish (24″), but a 1/2 dozen or so right below the slot, with 10 or so perch thrown in (yum!)and three pout (also yum!). A fair number of dinks were caught also. We seemed to have the best luck with deadsticks on both days, although Sat. they were a little more aggressive, and more were caught on jigs. Best deadstick set-up by far was a split-shot and a glow yellow hook. Best jig? Depended on what you had down there when an aggressive fish came by. If they wanted it, they hit regardless of what was down there. Also heard of a 40″ pike, and a 29″ walleye caught out of their houses on Saturday. Good luck if you’re heading up there, and if you stay in the “Jetty”, Larry apologizes if there is still a lingering odor in the bathroom.
