Trying to plan a fall sturgeon trip on the Rainy. When does the lake and/or river freeze? Anyone know a quick link to Rainy River regulations?
    Thanks a bunch.

We made our fall trip to Rainy last year Nov. 15-17. Other than the guides on our rods freezing up a bit and having to break 5-10 feet of ice at the landing in the morning, it was a great trip.

We are heading up early tomorrow morning for a few days! It may be tough to accomplish much at work today, as I am battling a serious case of short timers disease.

From where I’m sitting, you don’t look so good, might I suggest you leave early for some R&R

I have riverfront property on the river and deer hunt it every year. I’d say 1/2 the time the river has ice out to about 20 feet. Nothing you cant break through to get out. If you have to set a weekend in stone, I would suggest going early november. If you a bit more flexable, you could wait for reports and weather forcast.
