Look at the monster my wife took in on Sunday… Now she has got me beat in the Walley class and Pike.. she has a 33″ Walleye and a 43″ Pike..

We got about 15 Pike between the 30-40″ range that day. It was a blast.

Wiskers. Looking for some more info on pike fishing up there. Just found out this weekend that it is open year round. HOw do you look for those big pike up there this time of year?

yes, we catch them from shore. The ticket for catching them is knowing when they are running back to the river after spawning. You have a bout a 4-5 day window each spring. My guess it will be done Wednesday or Friday. After pike spawn up the river they follow the shallows and edges of the channels back to the lake. Being in the right spot at the right time with yummy vittals will reward the angler with beauties like that. Frozen Ciscos or smelt or even sucker minnows will work but I have MUCH better luck with bait I bring with me. That day, we got many more fish than all the other fishermen on the docks and jetty. We set up Catfish rigs and fish on the bottom or even corking just off the bottom. Trick is casting out to the edge of the channel. LOW is so very low this year, it was tough finding the magic depth they were feeding in. Weed lines and channel edges near rivers or creeks where Pike go up to spawn.

    Good luck and happy fishing.
