We’ve all been calling LOW “The Walleye Capital of The World” for quite a while…Sounds like it’s official now, literally…
The town of Baudette and the rest of the Lake of the Woods region has been using the slogan, “Walleye Capital of the World,” for some time now. But just recently did the local tourism bureau reel in the official trademark for the moniker.
The trademark, approved by the state of Minnesota, gives the Lake of the Woods region ten years of exclusive rights to the title.
The Lake of the Woods Tourism Bureau is also trying to get the national trademark from the U-S Patent and Trademark Office.
If it’s successful, the trademark would be permanent and would prevent other cities from using the same slogan.
