Got back from a couple of days on the big water(LOTW) and the bite was on.
I was lucky enough to accompany some co-workers for some very important company meetings for a couple of days. This makes the 4th year a group from the company has ventured up and, it was as fun as ever. Thursday found us out on a launch from the Sportsmans Lodge for a day of fishing with a shore lunch included. When we left the docks, we were looking at mostly sunny skies, 71 degrees, and wind speeds of 10-15 MPH, couldn’t be much better.

We started out fishing some flats about 5 miles or so north of Long Point, and found ourselves catching many fish right of the bat. We were motoring around in 30 to 32 FOW with the downriggers set at about 25-26 feet. The sonar showed fish near the bottom, and they were biting on most any color rap we used. We did have a streak where the only color that worked was blue/silver, but the best producer of the day was perch colored plugs. I wish I could post some pics, but the camera got left in the lodge, and all we had was a disposable. Between the 5 in our boat, we caught 50+ fish, notables being a 27 3/4″ eye, a 25″ a 39 3/4 inch pike, a 14 inch sauger, and many many fish in the 14 to 19 inch range, We all caught a limit of 4 keeper eyes, and had a delicious shore lunch at Zippel Bay State Park. We even had some left to take home for the fryin pan. I normally catch and release, but a couple times a year I like to keep a meal! The afternoon produced nearly as well, but the wind picked up a little and it was harder to fish.
All in all, it was a blast and was fun to reel in some eyes again!.
We even went and checked out the Wigwam Resort, and wow, what a nice place!! We had a drink and headed on our way.

Sorry for being so long winded, but just had to report our success!

    Good fishing to all!!!

Great report. Don’t worry about the length.

I’m at Wigwam right now! Checking out the bar…

The launch came in early again today…with two customers, they had over 100 fish on… and brought back a two man limit. Largest was a “little” 23 incher.

Chad and Roy Fiskewold from the north side of Mpls/St Paul will be haveing a fish fry tonight!

After camping at Winni for many years then moving to a resort on Winnie…being able to have someone put us on a ton of fish…have them clean them for you, and then the fry them up…is awesome! Favorite wife is a happy camper that she doesn’t have to cook…(I’m kinda happy too..if you know what I mean )

Great temperatures up here…and they are even better in the bar area…which is where I found my favorite wife…talking with Chad and Roy’s father Les Fiskewold.

If the fish don’t get lock jaw tomorrow at 8 am…will have a report up on the front page……

Now if these fish only had whiskers…

    Brian;
Does the Wigwam still have “Build a Burger for a Buck”?

Also, you singing Karaoke??? If so, that might keep everyone else away!

I forgot to ask Gary…but Cathy will be on in the morning I would bet.

As far as singing??? I’m like you…my dad told me I couldn’t sing either.

Ps Tom asked me if I knew you…and I denied it…of course!
