When this river or the Big Fork open up, it’s not a good thing. Here is a site to track it.

That doesnt look good Jason. We cancelled our trip due to the weather today and friday. Was hoping conditions would stay favorable for next week but it doesnt look good with the warm weather and rain.

    Good luck up there.

    Mike-

I don’t like this data either, but I need to give it a try.

If it turns to chocolate milk, the walleye fishing is shut off. Not slow, but shut off.

I should be brining my auger and ice sticks for plan b.

Not cool…..not cool at all !!!

We were heading up tomorrow, but I think the combination of the rain they’re getting, that chart, and my buddy having to bail on us the trip just went down the tube

That chart might be a little deceptive. Is there that much snow on the ground up there? Most years you would think conditions would be alot worse than this year. This year so far we are looking at a small amount of rain combined with a slow and steady snow melt run off. If there snow amount up there are like down here that run off wont add up to much. Compair this to years where you would be looking a alot higher water levels right now.
Do you guys see where Im going with this? Im hoping the river is still in good shape for fishing next week. Cant believe I wasted 3 days in town this week waiting for me neighbor to go with only for him to say this morning he didnt want to get wet. Fishing alone is way under rated.

    Mike,

We just got back and there is a ton of snow in the woods yet to melt off. It’s funny, an hour south and there is hardly anything on the ground, but there is still a healthy amount in the Baudette area. We moved our trip ahead from this Wednesday to last weekend (we left on a whim after our group sat and looked at past archives)and it panned out really well. We had 20 fish over 6 pounds for 5 guys, two 10’s being the biggest. I’ll be posting a complete report after I get the pics all downloaded.

Real quick report here. Just got off the river. Clarity is deminished. Not at the point I would call it muddy, but I think it affected the bite.

    Rained nearly all day.

Came up empty in the morning, didn’t see a wet net.

Took a break to dry out.

Caught two ‘eyes around 17″ and that was it.

Saw two other walleyes caught around us.

I will put out a more detailed report when I return.
