I just got back for LOW and fishing was good, but not great. We spent Thursday-Sunday on the ice and managed 81 eyes/saugers in my house. We had to do a lot of moving prior to finding active fish, but once we got on them we hit them good. We spent Thursday evening on the ice and only managed to get 4 fish, but we only got to fish for about 1 hour becuase we got up there so late. Friday morning we started out in shallow in about 16 feet of water and there was not a lot going on there, a few fish here and there. We moved out deep and found the big ZERO….We did not get a single fish out deep, to be honest I don’t think I saw a fish on the flasher. So after about 1 hour out deep we came back in to the shallows for the afternoon and we finally got on a bunch of fish. The depth we finally found them in was 12-13ft. We spent the rest of the afternoon pulling fish, the day ended and the total for the day was 28 fish with a lot of short bites. We left the portable house out over night and came back 1st thing in the morning and found the fish to be very hungry. We never left that 12-13ft mark all day and ended the day with 40 fish. We were the only ones in that shallow and by the end of the night we had a lot of people move in to where we were and the bite twards the end of the night slowed big time. We left the house out again and fished there in the morning for a few hours befor we got on the road. We got 9 in the morning, packed up and headed home.

There were a few strange things that came to mind on the ride home about this trip. First off we only got 1 pout the entire time and this was the first time that has ever happened. The norm is to get 8-10 pout per person. The other strange thing was we only got eyes and saugers no other fish except that pout, no perch, no tullies.

Baits that produced best for us were hands down the Buckshot Rattle Spoons…..What color. Well just about anything worked well when the fish were going good, but when things slowed, Gold…..Silver…. were by far the best for us. The other thing was when the fish slowed it made a big difference to just use the head of the minnow.

We stayed at Cyrus Resort and let me tell you they have some AWESOME cabins for a great price. I will try to get some photos up in the next day or two. Long and short….keep moving until you find fish…..Good luck to anyone heading up

Almost forgot….Ice was 15+ inches and people were driving all over the place with trucks. The ice was a little rough once you crossed the island but it was still 15+ and it was only rough for about 100 yards

If you are getting off the lake at Wigwam, you come back towards Baudette and take a right on county road 8 it is about 3 miles down county road 8. The are on Bostic Bay. It is only about a 5 minute drive to the lake. They were running Bombardiers out like mad, but they were not open to truck traffic.

Basically you take a Left when you see the Sportsmans sign coming from town, that is 8. Stay on that until you see the sign for Cyrus, you will have to cross Bostic Creek and you are there. Great place
