Made it up to the big pond to fish the Streiff Sporting Good tournament this past Saturday. Pre-fishing Thurs and Fri was average with 15 – 20 fish being caught. Only 4 or 5 over 19.5 and we never saw one over 28. Saturday we had 6 keepers in the first 20 minutes so we opted to toss a 14.5 and 15 back. It came back to haunt us as we ended up 2 fish short. Those 2 fish cost us a check. We ended up 17th out of 85 boats with 10.78 lbs. Big fish was a 32 inch 12+ lb piggie. The winners were repeat from last year with 21 some pounds including a 10 lb piggie. Only 3 over 28 came to the scale. Fish were caught using all of the usual LOTW’s techniques, spinners, cranks, rigging and jigging and they came from all depths and all locations. If you get a chance to run up north, stop by the big pond, it is full of fish that are willing to bite. Here’s a pic of one of our slot’s while pre-fishing. If memory serves me right it was in the 23 inch range. Tight lines. Kurt
LOTW’s 7/14 – 7/16
