I can’t take it, this snow and ice are killing me. But we are getting close to Lake Sturgeon time on LOW and the Rainy River. Let’s see your Lake Sturgeon Pics (add length, girth, weigh, age… if you have it. Any good pic, big, small…
    The double (Irishman(L) and JuneBug(R)) was a 60″ and a forty-something inch fish. There other two fish were; a 60″ tagged and a 51″.

Well this will be my first year on the Rainy! I’m pumped!!

I caught a couple monsters from the St. Croix last year – but have been told they don’t even compare.

We will be up April 18-21st.

#1 My PB from the Rainy. Just a touch over 60″.
#2 A fish my wife and I caught on P4 (with BK). I think it went 58″.

Aquajoe got this beast when I was with him a few years ago on the Rainy. It was 67″. I want to say the girth was 24″ or 27″, but I can’t remember exactly.

Here are a few from past trips to Rainy during the Sturgeon Excursion. The first was caught last year by my son, Tyler. Last year was his first year and he can’t wait to go again. The 2nd is my PB which is 57″. The last is Francis with one of the smaller ones he has caught. I can only hope we will be fishing in short sleeves when we are up there in a month.

I had a post awhile back with my sturgeon totals from last years Croix adventures straight from my fishing tracker:

Total days fished in Croix sturgeon season = 44/45

Total Sturgeon Caught over 32″ (we only track over 32″) = 287, roughly 7.175 per outing

Total Sturgeon Caught over 50″ = 18, 6.27% of total fish caught

Total Sturgeon Caught over 60″ = 2, .069% of total fish caught

Lowest water temp fished = 55.8

Highest water temp fished = 75.0

Tagged fish caught and reported = 2

1 hour time frame most sturgeon caught = 12:23 PM – 1:23 AM

    Biggest (in photo above) 63×24.

The double was a 56 and 54 if I remember right.

Got to love the Rainy River. And how about the Lil’ Chief, he is very excited about hooking up with the monster of the deep.

Here is a not so good pic of my 64″ from last spring.

It was the first and last time I grabbed one by the gill plate. I guess I went into muskie mode or something.
