It was once again time for our annual “Boys” trip to Longpoint Resort on beautiful Lake of the Woods. This year we had a total of 8 of us in two rigs and we were renting cabins and ice houses from the resort.

Our trip started Thursday night with RAIN! We actually departed at Friday morning at 2am and it didn’t take long to hit the sleet then the icy roads… Yep it was a long drive! Our expectations were low with the front coming in but the reservations were made and we had the time off of work.

The resort was full of cancellations due to the weather and the ice was full of water on Friday witch turned to ice on Saturday/Sunday. Rubber boots would have been a good thing to pack. We were set up in 30-31 feet of water and marked lots of fish but the bit was a bit off. We could catch one fish per lure and we put our lures on a constant rotation all day. We used a mix of Jigging raps (Blue), PK flutterfish and Slender spoons. We squeaked out a few in the twenties. We had a mix of walleye/sauger and out of no were the Tullies were on fire.

We averaged 10-16 keep able fish per house witch provided a great fish meal each night and I came home with around 30 tullies. A good bonus to hand over to some people that were waiting to smoke some.

    Enjoy the pics.

We went out of lp saturday during the big blow. Slowest day I have had out there ever. Good to see you had better luck. We ended up fishing 16 mile and mud the other days with good success lots of slots swimming around out there!
