Got back last night from my first trip to LOTW. Good times and good friends were the keys to a great trip. We stayed and fished out of Sportsman’s along with a little quality bar time there too. They were great and wouldn’t hesitate to go back there.

On to the fishing. Friday was okay but not great. We were running about 60/40 on walleyes to sauger. We got enough for a meal for the four of us but nothing significant. Best action was early or late with a lull in the middle of the day. Deadsticks or bobbers out produced active jigging.

On Saturday the fishing was a bit better with more fish bigger than cigar size with one 22″ as the highlight. Higher numbers with a shorter lull after noon too. This day jigging was the leading technique.

Either day there was no dominant lure in our group. Gold was not the only color that caught fish but you should have some in your tacklebox.

Thanks for the report. How much ice did you have? Any truck traffic?

Not sure on the ice depth. We were in heated houses that prevented build up. I suspect the actual depth was greater than what we saw in our shack.

The resorts were driving the light vehicles, Trackers and Samurais, no full size vehicles yet. With the cold weather it shouldn’t be long before pickups get the green light. There wasn’t much snow to insulate either.
