I fished friday near Clementson and had good luck with eaters and two fish at 29″. Saturday the Walleyes shut down completely so we switched to Sturgeon Gear. I was able to put my wife and dad on their first dinosaur fish and even ended up getting a double with my dad. My best sturg was 55″. Totals for the two days were 6 Sturgeon and 37 Walleyes. Not gangbusters but all-in-all a good trip.

I woke up this mornin’ to the sunshine

It sure as hell just looks like rain

But I know just where to go on a cloudy day….

We’re heading up in the morning for the week. Staying at Rainy River Retreat, just a mile from the Vidas landing. Thanks for warming them up for us. Pics to follow next week.

    Dr.Death:

We need some more rain and cooler water temps imo.

    Good luck!

Yeah, the river is pretty low. Looks like a little rain this week, but it doesn’t look like a whole lot. Air temps will be Ok for fishing. Like last spring, I’ll just throw plastics & blades. Probably pull some cranks on bottom bouncers too. I like that stretch from Clementson to the Vidas landing. Did well there last spring. Still looking for the replica fish!! Did you use night crawlers for the sturgeon? How deep did you fish? Thanks.

We got most of our ‘eyes on plastics this spring too but it took a live emerald shiner this time around. I’m sure if there is a big push of fish, artificials could be a good option. As far a Sturgeon bait, we used crawlers but adding a shiner seemed to do a little better but the sauger and rockbass become pretty anoying. It looks like your timing might be pretty good if the water cools.

    Cheers and hooksets!
