wow!! now i know how “CRIS Granrud” feels when he hooks up with one of these rainy river monsters…

had my annual lake of the woods trip this past week.. 5 days of non stop fishing…in the morning on the lake its was a pretty good walleye bite..3/8th oz gold jighead tipped with a frozen shinner put limits of eaters in the boat quick.

my first time walleye fishing friend Adam took top honors with a 30 inch walleye weighing 8 and a half pounds.. he also popped a 28 and 25.. the kid never caught a walleye in his entire life go figure… after scratching my head and looking at the graph.. i noticed the bigger fish suspended about 3 feet off the bottom..to me it seemed that the big girls are slowly making there way to there summer haunts. i never connected with a big girl.. i guess not knowing what your doing and just drop the line in a wait can pay off … still .. we fish straight out of the gap in 25 to 28 fow

the real fun was chasing these monsters that i read and see here on I.D.O…JOHNSON SILVER MINNOWS.. AND SPINNERBAITS work but i fell in love with the johnsons.. my quote of the week was ” put a rubber on your johnson”…twisty tail of some sort..for me i had no twistys so chartchuse ring worms ..white moxies.. broken in half… gezz i went through 5 packs of walleye plastics..

pike related to the tall weeds… no weeds no fish and the bigger fish were all caught on the deeper end of the weeds.

hook to land ratio was great ..only lost one fish but she was a giant..coming completly out of the water as my spoon landed and i bout soiled my pants at the shear size … lesson learned never bring a knife to a gun fight.. 8 lb mono on a bass baitcaster.. thank god for leaders lol…

overall a fantastic up north outing.. cant wait till next year.. heres the pics of a 37…38…and 39
