News says 5 inches of fresh snow in International Falls this AM. Along with 1″ of rain. That should stir up the river a bit with the warm weather this weekend. Good luck Mike. You seem to draw those heavy snows when you are there in the spring.

Mike, be sure to try well out into the lake as well. Guys I was with last weekend found some big pods of fish out in 12’+ out in the lake.

Also, be sure to try right in front of wheelers landing. heard some phenominal reports there last week as well.

Mike thanks for the updates, curious to see how it goes in the gap this afternoon. How bad are the crowds?

I am heading up Monday – Tuesday, planned on fishing upstream to stay away from the crowds, but not many opportunities to fish the lake this time of year.

There’s gotta be huge numbers of staging fish out there right now.

Thanks for chiming in, hope you get into them!

I’m debating on either birchdale or the lake myself for Sunday. Any thoughts?

Instincts and experience tells me Birchdale, but must admit the lake seems a bit intriguing. I’ll start up river unless those I know up there ahead of me give real good reason to otherwise. I am won’t be up until Monday, so we’ll see. I should know better than to chase the crowd.

That’s what we’re thinking also, unless I hear nothing but crap reports from the river. The old sayings if it sounds too good… And the grass isn’t always greener…

Lake. No questions. 4 walleyes and 4 saugers to boot. These fish spawn in the lake too.

15 winds and rain this morning. Where the heck did this come from? Head hurts and its time to go fishing.

We got 70 degrees and we are catching ice out pike on deadbait on Trenton Lake (oxbow off the missouri) I’d rather be on the Rainy or LOTW. Hope you are having fun Mike!

You didnt miss much Joel. We managed 8 walleyes for the weekend and maybe a half dozen sturgeon. Still had a good time.
