Here is a link to Wigwams facebook page. Lots of photos of the river out front filled with boats. I thought the parking lot was busy up there for sturgeon fishing. It is nuts now. Conditions look fantastic.

Yeah parking can be a bear if you are late to the party in the morning. Not uncommon to walk 1 mile plus after parking the truck and hiking back to the ramp.

Throw your childs bicycle in the truck. ride that to the ramp and chain it to a tree.

Dumb question, but here goes. Why would anyone put up with all those people, many rude inconsiderate ones at that, when you could just head upstream to one of the landings & enjoy a relatively peaceful day on the river?? How long does it take for those females to get up the river? According to the river gages, the water temp is still in the high 30’s, so there is a ways to go yet. Cooler temps in the forecast too.

Because you have very good odds of catching mulitple 30 plus inch fish over one long weekend. With the exception of Red Wing; I’m not sure where else in MN that you could do this. Also, the quantity of fish cought can be addicting.

Even with all of those boats out there it still would beat sitting at home not fishing. Are the up river landings any better?

usually not. we launch when we show up and do not pull the boat until we go home days later.

Lots of options for landings now that the river is open all the way to the lake.
