Any word on the Rainy River and the walleye bite? I had heard small boats where being pushed out over the ice but nothing confirmed.

We are thinking the same thing ref the good year, it has been a great winter, but very difficult waiting for the water to become SOFT!

Keep checking the Clementson Resort website. They are usually pretty good at keeping everyone current. No snow up there & the runoff has stabilized, so it’s going to be any day now. They are sliding small boats into the river, but it will be a few days until the landings are ice free. The river continues to open pretty good every day with this weather. Could be a great year.

Thanks a bunch, Mike. Clementson is doing some remodling work & they don’t have regular updates like in the past. This will be my first time up there, but I fish Pool 4 with my son-in-law quite regularly, so I know I’ll be able to find & catch fish. Not heading up until after Easter, but it should be good until close. I’m really looking forward to the trip. Again, thanks for the link.

I should let you know that once the big and little fork rivers open up and dump into the rainy it turns the water into something that looks like cream coffee. When that happens you won’t catch a walleye. With the ice opening so early there should good fishing until it get muddy, and hopefully there will be time for the Rainy to clear up again, and the fishing will come back until the season ends.
