Another licensed guide and myself (Possibly a 3rd) look to hold a 1 week Rainy River Run and Gun in 2013. I can’t tell you how many trip requests I receive that I pass on or simply decline this time of year. As many of you know I’ve bowed out of guiding on the River in past years since my personal March Ice fishing can be so demanding chasing slabs. Still the true fisherman in me can never keep myself from barbing those big Eyes. I’ve often felt many anglers don’t even need a fully guided trip, yet most all of us can benefit from some inside information for spots and presentaions. It can be difficult to gather firsthand information 300 miles away. Thus this concept was born.

Here is tentatively what our 1st annual Rainy River Run with Rainydaze will entail. It will be the last week of the open season starting around April 7th. Anglers will need to bring their own boats/tackle. Myself and at least one good friend/Captain (HAND PICKED) will lead the Charge from an area resort here in Ifalls to the best bites on the Rainy River that 3 local licensed captains can cultivate. Anglers will be lodging in a first class area resort with a beautful bar and supper club at our disposal.

We are looking to do include a mid-day shorelunch and wonderful Chef prepared Fish fry at the resort in the evenings!! All included. Your Job SIMPLE…….Provide WALLEYE and TAKE PICTURES!!

Our goal is to make this trip both educational and cost effective with a heavy splash of DARN RIGHT FUN!! We anticipate this will become a annual event targeting those monster Rainy River Walleyes.

We are going to limit this to 30 guys per day. Your trip can be all 7 days or it can be 1! When our 30 man daily limit is reserved the doors will shut. Some crews are large, so you’ll want to sign up early. The package pricing including lodging, meals and more. It will be tough to beat this group rate pricing in a premier setting on a individual basis with the spot guide service seemingly FREE!! Of course in organizing this I will be using our numbers to gather the best possible deal for lodging and meals for all in attendance!!YOU will NOT be lodging in a dirty sardine can to save a few sheckles I assure you!! Myself and another guide will be available each evening during meals and cocktail hour to talk fishing!! Though we too will be fishing amongst the crew are responsibilities also will etail helping guys back and forth to vehicles from trailer parking, shorelunches, pictures…….. and so on.

BTW……Evenings back at the resort are to feature fish fry’s done up by top area chefs!! THESE BOYS CAN PREPARE WALLEYE!! Might even be some talking smart in these gatherings!! Breakfasts will be on your own, but we will be sure the resort if ready to serve.

Our goal is to kick of the open water season with dedicated Walleye anglers in a cost effective package that is all inclusive; Lodging, Meals and a Spot guide service. Evening talking tackle/fishing with local Guides……Priceless?

Again 2013!! Should mark the kick off.

Further details to be worked out soon.

Lastly here are some possible things to be added to this package as I move forward in the planning; Product/Tackle sampling and filming. Who knows your 33 incher might make you a MOVIE STAR!! If so we ask that book signings and such will be limited to the landings.

    Stay Tuned!!

    Count me in Chris!

Please send me the details when you get them together.

Will do Justin. Again I think this is going to be a BLAST!! 2-3 full-time Captains at your disposal, Rainy River Walleyes, Beautiful lodging, 2 meals per day, Bar/Supper club for smart talk, Tips and Techniques by an entire group of Walleye anglers!! Heck I CAN’T WAIT MYSELF!!

Again I’ll get final pricing as soon as I get confirmation from the lodge. I suspect we’ll be in the range of $150.00 a guy. Lodging,Meals, Spot Guide….Heck I’m going to try twist arms for a drink ticket, tackle samples and so on. I fully expect this to be “VALUE PACKED” with a side of FUN OVERLOAD!!

Upon this coming to fruition we’ll formulate a RR group to help in the Q & A department.

My buddy has 3 customer groups as well already looking to lock a spot, so here with IDO availability will be key. I don’t want our group to get too large where I am unable to help, meet and talk with each and every angler.

    Sounds Great Chris!

Put me down for a group of 4!

Sounds Great Justin!! I hope to have final pricing in a week. I will say this…..It will NOT run OVER $150.00 per day/Per man. I’m going to negotiate for the best deal possible without sacrificing any sort of quality. Trust me I mean that too!!

I do want guys to keep this in mind. This is in no way something we want to try compete with as far as the Sturgeon Excursion goes. That is a very special event guys have enjoyed for many years, and this on many levels will be different for those who choose to attend. First off we can ONLY accept 30 guys a day and my buddy looks to have 10 or 11 out of his customer base already. I absolutely want to make sure we don’t spread ourselves too thin making ourselves unable to provide the persobal attention to each group to ensure best fishing chances. I LOVE get together like this as much as I love WALLEYE FISHING!! The really only way I can attend due to my guide schedule to hold it myself. Again guys can come for a couple days or lock the entire week down. I think it is fair to say we’ll have some PB’s being knocked down. When the dates are full we’ll shut down the invitations. Exact dates will be posted soon as well as I talk in detail with the resort. I have many ideas in mind that I need clearance on at different levels before I open my trap!! At this point we plan on making this simply a special 1 week Smackdown. Though I am going to keep this as reasonable as possible; I have little interest in cut rate rooming, shorelunches or resort meals….. I want to keep this first class on all levels at rates nearing 1/3 of what hiring us for a day and adding meals+lodging.

As many of you know I don’t do ANYTHING halfway. We’ll breadown daily gameplans together and fishing this as a team. I wouldn’t be suprised if my Buddies and I will be found bringing boats directly to specific bites, seams and sandbars while at the same time teaching proven techniques in those spots and snapping pics. I’m looking into handing out Sponsor shirts while holding short seminars……Who knows what I might dream up. I envision prizes being awarded and a honor system Digital CPR basis. Again I hope each and every angler that chooses to kick off the Rainy River Run with our team is beyond satisfied and never wants to give up their spot for coming years. Frankly I enjoy finding fish much more than finding participants.

Will do!! Since our season is going to be cut short a week it has me thinking RIVER!! LOL!! I expect I’ll have further details and will start taking reservations for spots in a week or 2.

Heck the Thick Smoked Bacon and Onion Sandies greeting our anglers heading in for shorelunch might make a few guys jealous!! We’ll be sure to let that Bacon aroma float down the river!!

Quick update boys!! Our resort that we’re working with on this special 2013 Rainy River run has come in with rather aggressive pricing!! This means I’ll be able to come in a bit lower than my origianl $150.00 per day estimate.

Early interest has been overwhelming!! I expect to have final pricing and reservations being made next week!! Anglers that reserve spots will have first opportunity to reserve dates again the following year.

The River is giving up some big numbers right now. 40-50 walleyes a day with most fish in the 17-20 inch class. Males move up the river first and also mix with some resident RR fish. Females are close followers getting their job done and then heading back to LOTW. Yesterday 2 of our guides picked a handful of 28 inch plus fish and the feeling is it is on the brink of the Superbowl of Walleye fishing!!

We’ve just about finalized the details on the 2013 Rainy River Run with Rainydaze. We’re going to partner up with Thunderbird resort on this event. Beautiful setting for this big fish beatdown!! They have been fantastic to work with, and have allowed me to pass on the savings I was hoping for.

This is very close to final as per the pricing; I will have this cut and dry by next week and begin official sign up. I expect pricing to be down from my initial $150.00 a day estimate to only $129.00 a man per day. Again this will include Lodging, Shorelunch and a Walleye Supper prepared by top notch Thunderbird Chefs. Myself and fellow full-time fishing guide will be with you to lead our crew of 30 anglers to the Rainy River in search of those Elite caliber fish. We have ONE GOAL…..Having our crew catch monster Rainy Lake fish and have a great time!! You bring your boat and motor. We will be fishing right with the team, and show in detail what our pre-fishing for this event has uncovered. We’ll show you precisely how to target these big fish. OF COURSE…….We’re counting on you for a few keepers……..Heck can’t live on Bacon and Onion Sandies!!

We are going to be holding (2) 3 day trips during the last week of the Rainy River Walleye season of 2013. This gives us optimum chance at prime action. We are initially asking you sign up in two’s or three’s to make the lodging side work.

Nightly gatherings over a great meal at Tbird with a lots of information sharing!!

Again we are limiting this group special to only 30 guys. Those 30 men will have first right to reserve next years spot.

More details to follow, but we’ll begin our sign up for those who have already heard enough. We won’t be waivering on the $129.00 a man price. Just might be adding things I can’t confirm at this point.

Love to fish with you boys!!

To start you can reserve your spot via PM or email to me. I’ll confirm your reservations and detail what it takes to hold your spot….
