MID March LOW ice fishing?

Ok guys, trying to decide on which area to fish on the ice the 3rd weekend in March on LOW.

1.) Garden Island / Knights area with Riverbend Sleepers

2.) ZIpple Bay in their sleepers

3.) Arneson’s Reef area with their sleepers.

We have fished the garden/knights area in march before in it was great. looking for some input on this spring predictions as well as past experience a little later in march. I am aware that all 3 resorts are quality.

You probably are aware of this; but I will say it in case you aren’t. There is next to no night bite on LOW. The days are a bit longer in March; but you will still have more than half your 24 hour day without much of a bite. So you will have to make entertainment plans to fill some of that time. I suggest you drink heavily.

I am aware of that part of LOW fishing. we are changing it up a little this year for kicks mostly. but also it is lighter in March and we get frustrated with how early they bring you in in march and it is cheaper as well. most likely will go back to the traditional LOW resort fishing next winter.

Garden/ Knights may not be an option. The ice on the big part of the lake has still been shifting much like what has been happening on Mille Lacs.

It’s hard to pass up Zippel Bay. One of the better operations that I have visited.

We will be up there the 3rd week in march as well. We fished Near Garden Island last year and did well. I am a bit concerned we will not make it out there this year. May even be hauling up the boats to fish the river in stead.
