We will be heading up to LOW in January. We will primarily be targeting eyes. We are also planning on fishing mostly out of permanents. What lb test and type of line do you suggest?

Thanks for all of the suggestions men!

I like 8 # fireline crystal to a 10# flouro lead. I have never had a problem with line shy eyes on lotw, but eye that are big enuff to give you problems turing into the hole are a good possibility.!

I would agree that you can go a bit heavier up there. The stained water will be on your side to hide the larger diameter line. I know its not ice fishing but I was up last week caught more fish on suffix 832 neon green than my buddies did using fireline crystal. Not to say that the fireline is bad by any means, just making the point that they are not line shy. I am thinking about trying to make one more run back up before the ice hits. Its big fish time up there. Have fun this winter

2/8 fireline crystal to a 4lb seaguar leader about 3feet long you getthe senseitivity of a light line without hindering the action of a light jig. And after thousands of LOTW eyes and saugers I’ve never wished I’d have gone heavier.

For jigging i would go with 8 lb test fireline crystal. I like to run a small barrel swivel to a 8 lb flouro leader!

For set lines or bobbers you can do the same for a better hookset in deeper water but i run 6 or 8 lb berkely vanish!

2lb vanish for panfish, 4lb for anything else.
