St. Croix Lifetime Warranty

    Hey guys–

Longtime lurker but finally decided to register and make an account. Been following IDO for quite a while…

Anyway, I have two Legend Tournaments and an Avid that are all broken. The girlfriends father shut them in the trunk on accident and snapped all three in half.

Will St. Croix fix these under warranty? I have been debating sending just one or all 3 at the same time… any suggestions? It’s $600 worth of poles that I got very little use out of. If anyone has any ideas please dont hesitate!

I know they have the Goldstar warranty that is no questions asked, but I would rather not go the route of paying $50/rod if I don’t have too.

Thanks for any and all suggestions

    Tight lines,

    joel

If it were me, I’d just go the gold star route. $150 for $600 worth of rods seems fair since they were broken in such a manner.

I had an Avid replaced a few years back with no problems, but that one snapped on a hook set.

You have to pay $50 for each rod, and use the gold star service, as far as I know.
Just be happy that you can get them replaced, and not have to pay full retail to buy new ones.
I would send them all at once to save on shipping.

Yikes , that is no good, but it does not sound like defective rods. I say be honest, pay the American company the 50 bucks to fix your rods that would otherwise cost you 600 , and do like I do and do not let anyone touch your rods

The last time I sent mine in for repair, they upgraded me to a better rod for a few more dollars. Very nice company to deal with!

Welocme to IDO and great to have you with us.

I broke one and it was my mistake. Paid the $50.00 and was very happy I got a new Legend for $50.00.

If you decide not to send them in, I would be willing to buy one or two from you.

    Just shoot me a PM.

That’s what I would do. $150 to get $600 worth of rods fixed sounds like a decent deal to me. Wasn’t the rods fault so shouldn’t be covered under warranty. If you just had one, maybe, but three? No way those broke by fishing.

Are you sure it was an accident? After all it is your girlfriends dad.

Haha. I do seem to land a few more fish in the boat than he does, but it’s mostly because he spends half the time in the water and is always changing baits. I keep telling him it was the St. Croix rods that were doing the trick, he finally decided to take things into his own hands and find out

I wish I could say it was a joke… it was a very sad day.

He is in a tough financial situation right now so I was looking for alternative routes but like the above poster said, it WASNT the rods fault so $150 it is… After having three I am spoiled rotten and won’t fish with anything else!

Thanks for all your input.. I love this place
