Found myself in town this morning for a little work so decided to make the best of it and spend the afternoon at the sports show. Didnt run into a lot of new stuff down there but what better way to kill a afternoon than walking around looking and talking about fishing. Said hi to the guys at the Skeeter boat center. Got a couple of free samples from the Northern Beer stand. Climbed around in a few new boats. Checked out a new Lake Master chip. Talked to the DNR about invasive species and looked at there huge big head carp on display. Picked up my 2011 fishing license.

Good way to kill the afternoon. Have fun to those that are going to the show. Make sure and keep a eye out for the IDOers working the show. It was good chatting with you guys.

Those guys at the Krugerfarms booth had some good deals on rods. Good talking to you guys to.

Spent a lot of my time just checking out new stuff on the market and not so much looking for deals. Its nice checking out the manufacturer booths at the show because they are usually stocked with a much larger selection of their products as compared to what a retailer may carry. Lets you compare that 6.6 rod to the 6.8 and 7′ and then even look at it in a few different product lines. You get the idea.

Think it was Thorne brothers that had some deals on rain gear that I remember. Might of been their cold weather gear to. Hopefully one of those guys will get a chance to chime in hear with some of there deals. As usually they have a pretty good sized display area down there. Lots of rods and reels to.

I will be down there on Saturday for a few hours. YES there are typically some deals to be had! I usually do 90% of my rod and reel purchases at the Sportshow or Muskie Expo (next week) due the fact that when you get that many competitors in one room with the manfuactuer reps there as well you can either negotiate or at least get some free garb from one of the manufacturers (free line, hats, lures, etc).
On your question of B fish N tackle, I think Joe’s will likely carry some of their products, they are on of the few retailers in the metro that seems to have them in supply on a pretty regular basis.

Everyone’s got deals, but you have to ask for them! There’s also manufacturer giveaways, like hats and shirts as well. I seem to get the best deals from Thorne Bros, Reeds and Marine General, but you have to shop around.
I picked up a Pflueger Arbor Reel from Reeds for $64. There are multiple vendors selling the US Reel Supercasters spinning reels for $69.

Shoot, I just bought an Arbor from Cabelas last weekend! Oh well, doing my part for the economy I guess

Reeds had various Rapalas including DT10’s & 16’s and #13 Husky Jerks at 3 for $10. Loaded up on that deal. Joes had a decent mix of Musky cranks for $8. (yes the crankbait junky in me is happy now… ) Bought a huge duffle bag for $22 bucks. Saw a lot of cool stuff that I would like to own some day. Keeps a guy dreaming! Talked fishing with Greg R at the Skeeter Boat Center. Said howdy to a few guys who recognized me and I don’t recall where we met before! Good show. Not too crowded on a weeknight!
