I do offer storage for boats, but my rent fee is “if your not using your boat, snowmobile, or wheeler, I get to use it without asking”

    That is a great idea!

When we built our house 7 years ago, we built the 3 car garage so it was big enough to fit the boat (28ft x 30ft) And of course the garage has an 8 ft. wide door on the third stall, insulation, heat, hot and cold water, a floor drain, tv, all the extras. Now, it’s packed full and we are talking about building a shed…

Just hearing all this makes me want to add to my debt, and build a damn garage
the problem I am having is on 2 1/2 acres, I already have a 24×24 detached garage, and the CODE people are saying my max is 1500 Sq Ft. Take the 576 already from the 24×24 and that doesn’t leave much I feel like putting a dome over the whole damn place
Other option is attaching the current garage to the house with a ‘breeze-way’, and then put up the 1500 foot building darn price just went way up

we went through the same thing last spring.

our old house was 100 years old with a nice detached 25′ deep 2 1/2 stall garage that we called “the warehouse”.

looking at new houses was a garage nightmare. pretty much anything that isn’t custom built comes with a “2 car” garage that is 21’6″ deep and more like 1 1/2 stalls…we compromised and got the house we wanted without the garage I wanted because with only 2 of us we didn’t need a mansion and the extra $100k in cost.

later this spring i’m putting up a shed to store all the tools so that we’ll be able to open car doors when 2 vehicles are inside.

this week the concrete guy is pouring a slab next to the garage to park the boat on. it’ll sit outside with the cover on for now until i can get a carport built over it. a full garage expansion was in the $40k range when i had a contractor provide an estimate.

The search has ended. We bought a house with a 2 car attached garage and a 26’X 30′ detached garage. My boat isn’t going to fill that entire garage, so I think I better find some more toys to put in it.
