Very interesting reading, especially for those that fly periodically… A Delta pilot gives his account of the direction and control of the airspace and obtaining landing clearance. A lot of credit needs to be given to the pilots and crews to get the flights safely landed after the earthquake disaster.

OMG that would be very nerve racking…

I know I would not have handled that as well as this pilot did…
    guess that’s why I’m not a pilot !!

Yes, those dudes are under some huge pressure at times while in the air.

Heck, we simply have a drink and ride along.

I’ve always liked flying be it large or small aircraft.

Considered getting a private pilots license at one time…but wife reminded me that I ran out of gas twice since she’s known me.

Landing is easy BK. It’s the walking away part after that varies.

That is my philosophy running the back channel. Running it is easy it is the prop repair bill that varies
Must be getting to be Spring if I can laugh about it because in a couple months it won’t be near as funny

A buddy of mine flies for a certain commercial airline here in the US. I asked him how he deals with the stress of getting several hundred people on the ground safely. His reply, “I only care about 1 person on this plane landing safely.”
