Bobber stops and superline

I have a tough time getting a bobber stop to hold on my Power Pro. Is there any tricks to stop this or maybe a different super line that would work better?

Put a little sticky paste on the line – around the stop.

I’ve had a little sucsess using two. Another thing to think about is carry a Sharpie. If you are using the white or yellow, you can at least mark your line at required depth and re set it in little time.
The sharpie on line holds ups pretty well. Do this ice fishing… alot!

I use the rubber stops on braid.They hold alot better.

I have been using either a forceps and teeth or 2 pair of forceps on the tag ends to pull tighter. I have had some get too tight though.

I was given some rubber stops from JR’s last year but have yet to use them, wonder where I put them…

Maybe a bit of wax rubed on the line????

The best approach i’ve found is to use two bobber stops.

The rubber stops work as well, but they stick up a little more and have a tendancy to get caught on the line as it spools off a spinning reel when casting.

The rubber stops from JR’s work well. I don’t use superlines for bobber fishing, but I use them while rigging to adjust my leader length. They do not move unless you really pull on them and then once moving they slide easily. Its magic!

Get the stop set, then put a speck of suoper glue on it. If you need to move the stop it’ll still come from, then re-glue it.

I use the pretied ones with the little tube. Leave your tag ends long and just tighten them up once in a while. If you are using PP braid and night bright bobbers, make sure you get rid of that metal bead in the bobbers. They will cut through power pro in no time at all.

I’ve used the rubber as well, they do work, but as mentioned, tend to hang up a little on the reel. Now I use the tie on ones, and like others, leave a little more tag, and pull tight with two pliers. Usually good to go from there, and if they come loose, just pull tight again. I use on 4# power pro, and it works even easier on the heavier stuff. Two knots is another sure work method.

Anyone talking dog bones here? I used those little plastic things, and have never used them with Fireline. I wonder if they would hold? Never really thought about until I read this post. But I usually run the line through one hole, then wrap it around the dog bone, then through the other hole. Anyone have any input on those?

i use the dog bones but like the rubber stops they too hang up the line on occasion when using spinning gear. can be frustrating at times when the crappies are going fast but they don’t budge. when casting open water i wont use them because they can catch hard, cut your line like a knife.

i haven’t tried them on a bait-caster though.

If you really need to stop the string bobber stop, just slip a small piece of rubber band along the ling with the string bobber stop over it and finally trim to fit. You can do the same with some mono if you want to adjust it. In the end it does make the knot a little bigger since you have two lines in there.

Some types of lip balm actually work pretty well. Figured it out by accident. Rub some on the line where you are going to put the stop knot.
If you are fishing shallow and can afford to cut a little line at the end of the day, just use super glue.
