Politicians, don’t you love them. Very few do what’s right for the masses.

Even as federal agencies hustle to keep Asian carp from colonizing the Great Lakes, an Arkansas senator is grumbling that a new federal law banning the transport of live Asian carp across state lines is unfair.

Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor wants fish farmers compensated for losing their ability to sell their crops of live bighead since the federal government in December listed the bighead carp as an “injurious species,” making it illegal to import the fish or move it across state lines. If the farmers are not given some relief, he said, no one should be surprised if the fish are accidentally let loose.

Never underestimate the Carp Farming lobby.

Isn’t this thread a little too political. Lock it up please!

Sure glad I’m pulling the plug on my boat, helping to do whatever I can to cure the invasion of these invasive species as they’re being trucked into our waters.

I really think the blue collar bunch in the DNR are trying to do what they can, but once you add those that sit behind a desk and the politicians you find the Peter principle running rampant.

Like the old saying goes….god remove them for they know not what they’re doing…and please hurry.

This man has had the gift of ignorance bestowed upon him, and uses it well.

What a convoluted mess we have here

In a different world at a different time this type of thinly veiled threat would be met with a swift application of retenone to the farmer’s ponds and a court order forcing him to burn the carcasses on the spot.

I see your threat and raise you a pile of dead fish.

I want you to all know that I am a staunch Dem.. and I am against this guy and the bill. and I posted it..

you have to see what is BEST for every one.. and not just for a few.. what’s right and what’s fair..

and trust me.. trash fish.. fish that are supposed to be killed if you catch them.. should not be transported IN ANY WAY.. unless they are FROZEN.. solid..

Ummm…not to add fuel to Old Rats fire….but…

I was talking to a legal bait wholesaler in TX because he can legally sell shad. I was planning on having them frozen and shipped to my MN address or to my temporary address in WI.

No can do. The MN and WI DNR will not allow any type of shad, alive, dead or frozen solid to enter the state. VHS is too likely to be in them.

There’s a lot of hate for the carp. especially for these type of carp. However it’s a farm fish, for food. The dish calls for live carp. How are you going to cook the delicacy of live carp if it’s dead? Not that I would eat it.
