On my 3rd season running the 788ci, absolutley love it, the resolution is awesome for a smaller unit. I run mine on the bow of my boat through the us2 minnkota connection on trolling motor. Definitely a great value!

X2 as Nic. 2nd year, I have it on the bow as well, hooked up to Terrova US2, with I-pilot.

788 is a great little unit, that is packed with all the features of the big screens.

It works awesome for ice fishing also.

Best bang for the buck out there.
Once you install a Navionics/Lakemaster card, you’ll never believe that you fished any lake without it before.
    And accurate?
The GPS is accurate as any unit out there.

So keep the $2000 add on for the bigger screen size, you’ll have the same power as anyone on the water.

Now couple that with an iPilot and you’ll be able to thoroughly cover any structure on the lake cuz you’ll be able to see exactly where you are in relation to the rock pile or drop off or creek channel or…..?

One more thing the 788 saved me from buying a new prop.
I fished Clearwater lake in Mn last year and cannot imagine navigating that lake without a mapping GPS unit. I know would have run my boat aground on the many shallow areas right in the middle of the lake adjacent to 35 ft of water.

    You’ll love it.

Thats funny, I have the 788ci with the lakemaster chip. Every lake I fished with it, the gps is spot on, except Clearwater. I couldn’t trust it there, it would say 30 feet deep on the gps, but the depth would only be 2-3 feet. Another boat we were fishing with said they had the same problem with their lakemaster chip and gps giving false readings on Clearwater too. Maybe you have the Navionics chip. Other than that I love my 788 with the lakemaster chip!

One other thing I forgot to mention, my 788 came with a bad transducer and I had heard of a few other guys having the same problem. I called Humminbird and they sent out a new one right away. Works flawless now.

I just got a 798ci hd si combo
and still need to buy a chip
what are the differences of the Lakemaster and Navionics chips
I will be fishing MN lakes
